Whether selecting a career as a Carpenter, Millwright, Scaffold Erector, Piledriver, or Diver we will provide you with the building blocks to a promising and fulfilling future in the industry. Our training lays the foundation by providing instruction in a classroom and shop setting on builder’s math, tool skills, material knowledge, job site safety, as well as theory and practice of the trade.
As an apprentice you can “earn while you learn” by working on Union construction job sites, as available, in between classroom sessions. The programs are all a four years in duration with the classroom portion ranging from 2 to 6 week blocks, once or twice per year.
You must be physically capable of performing the demanding work duties which include heavy repetitive lifting, bending, twisting, carrying, and climbing for a minimum of 8 hours a day. You also must be an Alaska state resident 30 days prior to the start of class, pass a drug test, have a valid drivers license, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and be drug free. Carpenters

Carpenters take an Architect’s blueprints and bring them to life by working with wood, metal, plastics, and many other engineered materials in a fast pace setting. From the hole that's dug in the ground to the turn of the key, union carpenters are involved in every step of the building process and ensure a quality product on time, under budget .
Piledrivers & Divers
Pile drivers drive steel, concrete, or wood piling into the earth during the early stages of construction. Skill is crucial to both a project’s success and the safety of workers, since the piling is necessary to hold back the earth during excavations; to set up the foundation of skyscrapers, highways, and bridges; and to build docks and wharfs.
Scaffold Erectors
If you enjoy working outdoors at high elevations in a large scale industrial setting, then a career in scaffolding might be right for you. Scaffold builders are responsible for building and taking down scaffolds and temporary structures for buildings, refineries, power plants, mines, and ship work. As a scaffold erector, you can earn big money in a short period working rotations on Alaska's North Slope.
Millwrights
If you like working with machines, tools, precision instruments, and have an eye for the perfect fit, you might consider a career as a millwright. Millwrights align, install, maintain, diagnose, and repair the
machines that keep America running. Compressors, pumps, conveyors, monorails, extruders, turbines, and mining equipment to name a few.
